Library Spaces

How can I use a study room?

If you are a current Asbury University student, you can reserve a group study for up to 2 hours at a time. You can reserve now  online with your Asbury email or you can go to the main library desk. Room keys are issued at the main desk in exchange for an ID. An email will be sent to you to confirm your online reservation. You may cancel your reservation at any time.

Our study capacities include:

  • 3 large rooms with a table and 8 chairs
  • 7 rooms with a table and 4 chairs
  • 1 accessibility room with 2 chairs and a computer
  • 5 individual study rooms (non-reservable, available first come first served)

We ask that you do not move furniture in or out of the rooms, and that you lock the room once you leave.

How can I use a meeting room?

Only Asbury University faculty or staff may reserve meeting rooms. Student reservations must have a staff member’s sponsor approval. The Board of Trustees, Alumni Board, or other events by the administration receive priority. The reservation booking grid can be found online, and we ask that you include both set up and tear down time in your booking. Please let us know whether food and/or drink will be served and if you need access to the kitchen. Contact ITS if you need specific A/V equipment.

I am really stressed about my homework, and I cope by drinking lots of coffee and tea. Can I bring that into the library?

Absolutely! Food and drinks are permitted in the library, except for the Kinlaw Study Room and the Mac and PC labs on the lower level. We ask that you keep food and drinks away from the Open Lab computers on the main and upper floors. And we sell coffee, tea, and hot chocolate at the Hiccup Too cart if you ever need a refill!

Community Members

I am a resident of Jessamine County. How do I get a community borrower card?

Residents of Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, and Woodford counties who are 18+ can obtain a community borrower card for free! Visit our main library desk to apply for a card.

I am not a student. Can I still access the internet at Kinlaw?

Yes! Any campus visitor over the age of 18 may request guest access and may use their own devices or a designated visitor’s computer. Stop by the main library desk to request access.

Can I bring my child with me to the library?

Yes! Children are more than welcome in the library, but for safety reasons no child age 12 or under is allowed to use the library facility without being accompanied by a parent, guardian, or Asbury University student, faculty, or staff.

I have old books. am I able to donate them to the library?

We appreciate that you want to give your old books new life, but due to space constraints in the library building and the high cost of sorting, reviewing, and processing donated materials, we do not accept most donations. Please contact library@asbury.edu if you have questions about a possible donation.
