Mark 10:17 and following. Dr. Kinlaw focuses on the two requirements for the rich young ruler to join the Kingdom of God: submission to an external authority and willingness to live for something other than oneself.
The account of Simeon seeing Jesus. The only way for a Christian to have a radically impactful life for the Kingdom is if he allows the Holy Spirit to indwell him.
Dr. Kinlaw defends the belief that Jesus will come back to save and judge the world. There was a prevailing argument at the time that this belief was heretical.
Jeremiah 10:23; John 5:26. Salvation comes through an intentional choice to follow Christ. A person should be able to have confidence in his or her salvation.
Man is one who moves, grows, and measures progress. Jesus is our stable point of reference by which we measure our own growth. A person with no external point of reference is lost.
Ezekiel 36:24 and following. New birth sets a holy standard for living, but we are not able to achieve it on our own. We must allow God to justify us for the rest of our lives.
There is more to the Christian life than simply conversion. This something more leads to great works for the Kingdom. A personal, intimate, growing relationship with Christ is imperative to a "something more" life.
Analysis of the situation of Calvary. Calvary was Jesus's choice to resolve the dire situation sin leaves us in. A return to the biblical understanding of the severity of sin.
Ezekiel 1:26 and following. God's purifying fire will change and glorify us if we let it. God is mysterious and has a life-changing effect on all who meet Him.
Titus 3:3. Christ wants to wash, regenerate, and renew us through conviction and encounter with the Holy Spirit. We cannot truly desire the righteousness of God without coming to terms with the gravity of our sins.
God is sovereign and abounding in holy love. Sometimes we need a revival to remind us that God's plan is the best one for our lives, and that we must submit ourselves to Him in a serious way to be faithful in our relationship with Him.
