Reference Desk: Services

We introduce students, faculty, and staff to strategies of research. We inform them of resources available and teach them how to use them effectively.

Our mission is to support the library's mission by facilitating access to information through direct personal service to library patrons, and by supporting the University's instructional program through the provision of formal and informal library and bibliographic instruction. We introduce students, faculty, administration, and staff to strategies of research and resources available and teach them how to use them effectively.

Research Assistance

Reference Librarians are trained professionals who help library users find information needed for papers and other projects. Librarians can help you:

  • find information (books, articles, and more)
  • choose the most relevant databases for your topic
  • improve your research strategy
  • critically evaluate information
  • cite sources properly

Our librarians guide patrons to resources and ensure the development of necessary skills to meet research needs.  We offer individual consultations by appointment to discuss research needs or demonstrate an electronic searching resource.  Please contact us and let us help with your information needs.
