Personalization and "Filter Bubbles"

"Personalization" is a technique used by search engines like Google and social media sites like Facebook.  Essentially, personalization modifies the list of search results or other information based on a number of criteria specific to you (your location, the sites you visit, ads you click, etc.).  As Eli Pariser suggests in this short video, this is not necessarily a good thing when it comes to being a well informed citizen.
